Group talkback for remote production teams

Stream Bridge Group Audio connects up to 10 remote participants in one live talkback group beside the picture they're already watching - individual mute controls, returned to the production as a named NDI or OMT source.

Signal Flow

4 Simple Steps

  1. Pick who talks

Directors, producers, operators or contributors who are watching the feed.

  2. Turn on group audio

Enable it on the viewer links that need it, for up to 10 people in one group.

  3. Talk while watching

Everyone talks beside the picture, with their own mute control.

  4. Route it like any source

The group arrives on your paired device as an NDI or OMT audio source.

How it works

Group Audio adds a shared production conversation to selected viewer links, so directors, producers, camera teams and remote operators can watch the live feed and talk to each other without a separate meeting room.

Each participant controls their own microphone and can see who else is in the group. Individual mute controls keep the channel usable during a live show, and one additional device audio source can be included when the group needs programme or talkback context.

We create the combined group as an audio source on the paired device, which the control room can then route, monitor and record through its existing NDI or OMT workflow.

The group currently supports up to 10 connected participants. Because communication is enabled per viewer link, you decide exactly which audiences get talkback and which stay passive monitors.

Technical Breakdown

A closer look at participants, mix-minus behaviour, group controls, production output, networking and access.

Supported Sources

Up to 10 connected participants on Group Audio-enabled links.

Explore details

Viewer links with Group Audio switched on for the same stream join one shared voice session. Participants enter a display name and use the microphone controls already built into the Stream Bridge viewer.

One additional audio source from the paired device can be included in the group, giving programme, talkback or another reference feed when the conversation needs production context.

Audio

A combined group mix returned to the production without feedback loops.

Explore details

Stream Bridge mixes the active browser participants and publishes the group as an audio source on the paired device. Audio from the device itself is removed from the returned mix, so it doesn't feed straight back into itself.

Participants can mute their own mic and use the Group Audio panel to control other people locally. The production keeps control of the returned source once it reaches the mixer or routing system.

Performance

Independent sessions managed as one production talkback group.

Explore details

Each participant runs their own real-time audio connection, while Stream Bridge creates the combined output. One person joining, refreshing or leaving doesn't require the main video stream to restart.

The current participant limit is 10 connected people, which keeps the browser controls and mixing appropriate for a focused production team rather than a large public call.

Viewer Quality & Latency

Live voice beside the low-latency production monitor.

Explore details

Group Audio is built for direction, coordination and production conversation, where participants need to react to the picture they're watching. Actual delay depends on every participant's network and route.

Microphone selection, mute state and participant information stay visible inside the viewer, so you're not switching between the monitor and a separate communications app.

Networking

Direct connection first, cloud relay where needed.

Explore details

Every browser participant negotiates their own real-time path to the paired device. No VPN or inbound port forwarding required for the group.

Cloud relay can support participants whose NAT or firewall policy blocks a direct connection, so one group can include people on very different types of network.

Security & Customisation

Group access is only on the links you choose.

Explore details

A passive client viewer doesn't have to see or join the talkback group. Separate links let you restrict Group Audio to the directors, producers, operators and contributors who need it.

Group-enabled links can still use custom URLs, passwords and player branding. Browser microphone permission stays under each participant's own control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers about participant limits, browser controls, mix behaviour and the returned production source.

Workflow setup

Up to 10 connected participants for a stream. Passive viewers are separate and don't count as talkback participants unless they join the group.

Only links with Group Audio switched on. Enabled links for the same stream share the group, so you can keep client or public viewers outside the talkback channel.

The paired Stream Bridge device publishes the combined group as an audio source through its enabled NDI or OMT output, ready to mix, monitor, route or record.

Monitoring & delivery

Each person can mute their own microphone and use the Group Audio panel to control who they hear. The panel also shows when someone else has muted themselves.

Yes, one additional audio source from the paired device can be added to Group Audio for programme, talkback or another reference feed.

No - the returned group mix removes audio originating from the paired device, so the production reference feed doesn't get sent straight back into itself.
