Stream Bridge Stream Bridge

Stream NDI straight to a web browser

Stream Bridge takes an NDI source from a paired desktop device, encodes it, and delivers it as a low-latency stream with customisable links that open in any web browser. Remote viewers watch in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari - they do not need NDI Tools, a VPN or port forwarding.

Signal Flow

4 Simple Steps

  1. Pick an NDI source

Any NDI or NDI HX source on your network: cameras, vMix, OBS, PTZ or graphics.

  2. Pair the app

Install Stream Bridge, add a device on the dashboard and enter its connection key.

  3. Share a link

Send a viewer link, password optional. No port forwarding or network admin needed.

  4. They watch live

Open it in Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari. Direct where possible, via our cloud when not.

How it works

Stream Bridge is easy to set up and use. Simply install our desktop application, create a device on the dashboard, then enter the connection key on your device. Once connected, all of your local NDI sources, along with many other source types, are available to be set up as streams.

Any single stream can have as many viewers as your internet connection can handle, and each viewer can be configured with a range of options such as player customisation, password protection, audio return and much more.

Once you've set up your viewer, simply share the link and they can connect straight in. If there are any issues establishing a direct connection, we automatically use our cloud network to bridge the connection. This means Stream Bridge works reliably even in tricky or restricted network environments.

Our system also works continuously in the background, monitoring the connection and automatically adjusting delay, buffering and other settings to keep playback as smooth and stable as possible. Latency can be as low as 50ms. However, we advertise around 500ms to allow for additional buffering.

Technical Breakdown

A closer look at NDI source support, audio, performance, viewer quality, networking, and access control.

Supported Sources

Full Bandwidth NDI and NDI HX sources at up to 2160p60.

Explore details

Stream Bridge connects directly to the NDI SDK on the paired device, giving it access to NDI sources available across the local network. This includes cameras, vMix, OBS, PTZ cameras, NDI HX feeds, and other compatible sources.

Both Full Bandwidth NDI and NDI HX are supported, with capture at up to 2160p60 as well as lower resolutions and frame rates.

Audio

Up to 16 controllable audio channels with 320 kbps delivery and audio return.

Explore details

Stream Bridge can capture up to 16 audio channels from a single NDI source. These are delivered to the browser as individually controllable tracks, allowing viewers to select programme audio, clean feeds, commentary, or other production channels.

Outgoing and incoming audio uses a 320 kbps bitrate for higher quality than most real-time communication services. Audio Return also allows a viewer to send microphone audio back to the source device, where it becomes available as an NDI source at the same bitrate.

Performance

Lightweight GPU or CPU encoding designed to run alongside live production software.

Explore details

The desktop application supports both NVIDIA NVENC GPU encoding and CPU encoding. Our processing engine has been carefully tuned to remain as lightweight as possible while maintaining high-quality, low-latency output.

Most production systems should comfortably handle one stream with multiple viewers while other production software continues running. Live CPU and GPU monitoring in the dashboard makes it easy to see how each device is performing.

Viewer Quality & Latency

Live bitrate control, per-viewer statistics, and latency that can reach around 50 ms.

Explore details

Every stream has a configurable bitrate that can be updated live from the dashboard. A change applies to everyone watching that stream. Each viewer is an individual send, so two viewers watching at 5 Mbps require approximately 10 Mbps of total upload bandwidth.

Live per-viewer statistics show dropped frames and connection issues, helping you decide when to reduce bitrate. In ideal fibre-to-fibre conditions latency can be around 50 ms; across typical networks, 150-300 ms is a realistic expectation and still feels close to real time for remote production.

Networking

No VPN or port forwarding, with direct connections and automatic cloud relay fallback.

Explore details

Stream Bridge is designed to make remote connections simple, with no VPN, port forwarding, or manual network configuration required at either end.

We always attempt a direct connection first, using the Stream Bridge cloud only to introduce both sides. If a direct route cannot be established, the platform automatically relays the stream through our cloud network so viewers can still connect from restricted environments.

Security & Customisation

Password protection, branded players, and control over how each viewer link can be used.

Explore details

Individual viewer links can be password-protected to restrict access. Player branding, colours, controls, and layout can also be customised for each audience or production.

Standard viewer links can be limited to one active viewer, preventing the same link from being reused simultaneously. Multi-viewer links are also available when one shared link needs to support several people.

NDI to browser

Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers about discovering NDI sources, encoding them, and sharing low-latency browser viewer links.

Setup & sources

No. Stream Bridge converts the NDI source into a WebRTC stream. Viewers only need a browser - no NDI Tools, licence, VPN, or Stream Bridge installation on the viewer side.

The source must be actively outputting NDI, discovery must be enabled, and it must be reachable from the paired device. Discovery works best on the same subnet and can take around 30 seconds for all sources to show up.

Our system is designed for people watching through a browser. Bridge Sharing delivers the feed to another paired device as a production source for software such as OBS or vMix. Stream Bridge also allows you to connect device to device via our bridge. NDI Bridge still needs port forwarding and more network setup.

Delivery & performance

Multiple people can use the same viewer link. Each viewer receives an individual connection, so the practical limit depends on the sender's upload capacity, the selected bitrate, and whether a cloud relay is required. The stream card shows the current viewer count.

GPU encoding with NVENC is recommended when a supported NVIDIA GPU is available because it provides the lowest latency with minimal CPU use. CPU encoding is the universal fallback but uses more processing power and normally adds more delay.

Chrome is recommended for the most predictable WebRTC playback. Firefox, Edge, and Safari are also supported. Audio Return and Group Audio require browser microphone permission over HTTPS, which Stream Bridge viewer links use by default.
