Stream Bridge Stream Bridge

SRT alternative for remote monitoring

Stream Bridge uses WebRTC and secure browser links instead of asking every remote viewer to configure an SRT receiver - just what a director, producer or client needs to get a live picture up fast, with branding, multichannel audio and talkback where you want it.

Signal Flow

4 Simple Steps

  1. Pick the feed

Programme, multiview, cameras or a clean feed you need someone to monitor.

  2. Pair the app

Install Stream Bridge, add a device on the dashboard and enter its connection key.

  3. Share a link

Send a viewer link, password optional. No port forwarding or network admin needed.

  4. They watch live

Open it in Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari. Direct where possible, via our cloud when not.

How it works

SRT's a strong choice for contribution between known endpoints, but remote monitoring is a different problem - the person watching is often a client or producer who needs a picture now, not another decoder to set up.

Stream Bridge gives them a browser link instead, while you keep control of bitrate, passwords, branding, player controls and audio. Different audiences can get different links from the same live stream.

The connection is negotiated automatically - direct first, with cloud relay when needed. There's no listener address, public port or receiving application for the viewer to manage.

The result is a monitoring path built for fast access and real-time interaction. SRT still makes sense for workflows built around its transport model, but this is for people who just need a controlled live viewer.

Technical Breakdown

A practical comparison of browser playback, low-latency connection setup, audio, access control, relay fallback and operator workload.

Supported Sources

NDI, OMT, desktop or DeckLink sources on the production device.

Explore details

Stream Bridge works with an NDI, OMT, desktop or DeckLink/SDI source available to a paired device - programme outputs, multiviews, camera feeds, clean feeds and graphics returns are typical picks.

Only sources visible to the desktop device can be selected. Allow discovery time after connecting, and use local-sources-only filtering on a busy production LAN.

Audio

Programme and additional audio in the same browser viewer.

Explore details

Programme audio can travel with the source, and up to 16 channels are available where the source supports it. Additional tracks and return communication can be configured separately.

Where the audience needs more than the source mix, add separate audio feeds to the link and let them set their own levels. Return communication is an independent per-link choice.

Performance

Real-time H.264 encoding with live device and bitrate control.

Explore details

A supported NVIDIA GPU encodes through NVENC with barely any CPU impact - normally the best fit beside live production software. CPU encoding is the fallback when there's no compatible hardware, or it's already committed.

Each device starts with limits of four GPU and two CPU encodes. Treat these as safety limits rather than performance targets, and watch the live CPU/GPU meters before raising them.

Viewer Quality & Latency

A browser-ready monitor with no decoder application at the destination.

Explore details

Choose SRT when its transport model and decoder ecosystem fit the job; choose Stream Bridge when browser access and real-time interaction matter more. Every viewer is a separate connection, and your bitrate applies to each - two viewers at 5Mbps needs roughly 10Mbps upload.

You can change bitrate live without rebuilding the stream. Most 1080p30 pictures sit comfortably around 3-5Mbps; fast motion or 60fps usually wants 5-10Mbps and a stronger connection.

Networking

Direct WebRTC or automatic cloud relay, no listener/caller setup.

Explore details

ICE negotiation finds a usable route without asking either end to open an inbound port. Where the networks allow it, video goes straight between the production device and its viewer or receiver.

Restrictive NAT and firewall policy can force the connection through TURN instead. That reaches more networks, though the extra hop may add delay, so stick to stable wired bandwidth where you can.

Security & Customisation

Separate links, passwords, branding and controls per monitoring audience.

Explore details

Create a different link for each role rather than exposing one universal player - each can have its own URL, password, appearance, audio choices and communication controls while using the same stream.

Anyone with a viewer link can access its feed, so distribute it deliberately and add a password where appropriate. Device connection keys should stay private to whoever manages that machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers about browser receivers, latency, firewall setup, access and when this workflow fits.

How it works

You get the remote person a managed browser viewer, rather than asking them to configure a decoder, exchange connection details or handle caller and listener modes.

No. They open their assigned link in Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari, and Stream Bridge handles connection negotiation behind the player.

No inbound port forwarding is needed, and the connection doesn't start with an operator-defined SRT latency value - Stream Bridge uses WebRTC with direct-first routing and relay fallback.

Comparisons & reliability

This page describes browser monitoring. When the destination needs to receive a source inside production software or SDI hardware, Bridge Sharing is the production-output path instead.

Yes. Separate links can use different passwords, branding, audio options and communication features while watching the same underlying source.

Confirm the destination workflow, any required codec or protocol interoperability, expected latency, available upload and the number of viewers. Stream Bridge is strongest when managed browser access and production integration matter most.
