Stream Bridge Stream Bridge

NDI remote viewing alternatives

Stream Bridge replaces remote desktops, shared VPNs and viewer-side NDI setup with one controlled browser link. NDI stays on the production network - only the selected feed goes out, with low latency, production audio and nothing to install.

Signal Flow

4 Simple Steps

  1. Pick the feed

Programme, cameras, multiview or graphics from your NDI network.

  2. Pair the app

Install Stream Bridge, add a device on the dashboard and enter its connection key.

  3. Share a link

Send a viewer link, password optional. No port forwarding or network admin needed.

  4. They watch live

Open it in Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari. Direct where possible, via our cloud when not.

How it works

Traditional remote NDI viewing often hands the viewer more network and computer access than the job needs. Stream Bridge narrows it down to the selected feed and presents it in a player built for watching live.

Each audience gets its own link with the password, branding, controls and audio that fit them. A client, director and technical operator can all watch the same source without sharing one generic experience.

The NDI network stays local to the paired device. WebRTC carries the encoded media over a direct connection, or through our cloud network when the viewer's network won't allow peer to peer.

When the destination is another production rather than a person, the same source can use Bridge Sharing and arrive as local NDI, OMT or compatible SDI - covering both remote viewing and controlled source delivery.

Technical Breakdown

A practical comparison of browser access, network isolation, production audio, connection routes, destination options and audience control.

Supported Sources

Keep NDI local, and pick only the feed the remote person needs.

Explore details

Stream Bridge works with full-bandwidth NDI and NDI HX sources the paired device can see - cameras, vMix, OBS, PTZ cameras, graphics systems and other NDI sources.

The source needs to stay active and reachable. Discovery can take around 30 seconds, and local-sources-only filtering helps simplify busy networks.

Audio

Deliver programme, additional and optional return audio without extending the NDI network.

Explore details

Stream Bridge can capture up to 16 audio channels from a single NDI source, delivered as individually controllable programme tracks.

Viewer links can include additional audio sources with independent level controls. Audio Return and Group Audio can be switched on separately when the remote person needs to speak back.

Performance

Encode on the paired production device, with live performance visibility.

Explore details

Encoding can run on NVIDIA NVENC or the CPU. NVENC generally gives the lowest latency and CPU use; CPU mode is useful on systems without compatible hardware or where GPU capacity is already committed.

Default limits are four simultaneous GPU encodes and two CPU encodes per device. Use the meters to raise those cautiously and spot overload before it becomes dropped frames.

Viewer Quality & Latency

Watch in a browser, or receive the source through a paired device.

Explore details

When the destination is another production system rather than a person, Bridge Sharing can publish the same stream as local NDI or OMT. Every viewer is a separate connection, and your bitrate applies to each - two viewers at 5Mbps needs roughly 10Mbps upload.

Bitrate changes apply live. A practical starting point is 3-5Mbps for most 1080p30 feeds and 5-10Mbps for high-motion or 60fps content, depending on the weakest connection in the path.

Networking

No remote desktop, shared VPN or inbound port forwarding.

Explore details

No VPN or inbound port forwarding is required. Stream Bridge uses ICE to find a workable path between the sending device and each receiver, preferring a direct connection.

If strict NAT or firewall rules prevent that, the session uses our TURN network instead. It improves reachability, but the extra hop can add latency, so wired internet and sensible bitrate headroom still matter for production-critical feeds.

Security & Customisation

Role-specific viewer links instead of access to a whole workstation or network.

Explore details

Viewer links can use readable custom URLs, optional passwords and player customisation, so a client, director, operator and internal team can each get different controls from the same stream.

Treat device connection keys and viewer links as credentials. Keep connection keys private, password sensitive feeds, and remove links or bridges once an audience no longer needs access.

Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers about browser access, NDI Tools, VPNs, network exposure, audio and production outputs.

How it works

No. Stream Bridge keeps NDI discovery and capture on the paired production device - the remote person just gets the selected feed in a standard browser.

No. They get a controlled media connection, not general access to the workstation, dashboard or local NDI network.

Often, yes. Stream Bridge drops the desktop controls and just gives you the live picture, audio and optional communication features in a focused viewer.

Comparisons & reliability

Yes. Viewer links can include additional sources and up to 16 channels, with independent controls where configured.

Yes. Bridge Sharing can deliver the source to another paired device and publish it locally as NDI or OMT, with compatible SDI output also available.

Stream Bridge tries a direct WebRTC route first and uses our cloud relay automatically when network policy blocks peer-to-peer connection.
